Tutorial

PLEASE NOTE: I have been getting a *lot* of e-mails about this tutorial. Again, it is provided only as a suggestion, based on what worked for me. I am not an employee of either AT&T or T-mobile, I do not have any information regarding this phone or any other aside of what is on this page, and I no longer even own a Gravity. I am leaving this tutorial up because it may yet be useful to someone, but if you have any questions not answered on this page, please contact tech support for your phone company. Thank you.

Using a Samsung Gravity from T-Mobile on the AT&T network

I have been a T-Mobile customer for quite some time, but having gotten fed up with their lousy service in my area and extending my contract every time I wanted to change my plan (even to a more expensive one!), I decided to switch to the AT&T GoPhone, a top up service.

Having just purchased a Samsung Gravity from T-Mobile, and planning to use my AT&T as my main service until my T-Mobile contract is up (sometime around the year 3049 at this point, I believe), I unlocked my phone to use on the AT&T network.

Let me be clear: To my knowledge, there is no such thing as a universal unlock code for the Samsung Gravity. You MUST contact T-Mobile and have them send you a user-specific unlock code. This is not complicated. Go to their website and start a live customer service chat. Tell them you need an unlock code, and they will happily take down your email address and send it to you within 24 hours. I recieved mine in less than an hour, no questions asked.

Once you have unlocked your phone, however, although the SIM card will work and you can send/receive both texts and phone calls, you will find that when trying to send a picture message, you get an error that says, "Unknown subscriber", and the message will not send or download on your phone.

That should do it. I do not have web browsing capabilities as part of my AT&T account, so I am not positive, but you should be able to set the above "Home URL" in step one to whatever you want it to be, ie google.com, etc.

This solution is offered only as a suggestion, and I cannot guarantee any results. I am not responsible for any unexpected results.
